"Margaret and her Youngest Son" -- Margaret, 43, lives in Mathare a violent slum in Nairobi. One of her daughters attends a neighborhood school that targets children who are too poor or too old to attend state schools. The school, St. Martins Desporres, has special accelerated programs that helps these young people catch up to their age level. Margaret is too sick to work, and so her oldest daughter works 7 days a week trying to support her mother and 4 younger siblings.
